Kidding. When I first encountered that term for the unjabbed I almost hurled.
Curiously I have friends (and family) in several countries, some of home decided to get the vax, some didn’t. I can’t recall a single acrimonious interaction about this. Also curiously, none of these people is much active on social media.
Thank you for your feedback, which is as always appreciated. I have a similar situation within my family, thankfully.
And apart from that I keep it up with people as I always have. There are those I like, those I don't like and those I tolerate - I couldn't care less about anyones vaccination status as I don't care about their medical history or sexual preferences etc. Perhaps I am just very simple minded...
I believe that not only social media is an issue here but media in general, reporting in absolute unison.
It’s quite surprising here in the UK how many people will proffer the information that they have stopped watching the news. This comes up typically when discussing non-political subjects, such as sports.
Tanja, giving your business friend the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he's of the opinion that vaccinated people are more likely to drop dead on him, or get Covid and miss long stretches of work.
He may very well be making his own life more difficult in the short run, as his pool of prospective hires will necessarily be shallower; however, in the long run, he may have less turnover/absenteeism.
Would be interesting if you can follow up with him in a year and see how he thinks it's worked out. Assuming he can give an objective assessment.
Thank you for your insight and it’s very valid and I appreciate it. I will definitely try to follow up and I suppose it will be very interesting for all of us to see how things develop.
Not at all, that was not my statement at all and I am sorry if it is misleading. It is the statement that he wants to hire only unvaccinated people in the future that irritated me. I find the fact that people are generally judged according to their vaccination status bewildering.
I can understand your perplexity on one hand. On the other hand, the unvaxxed aren't normally sick every other month, or so. That would also, possibly make his business run smoother.
Possibly, and yet it is those stereotypes I struggle with. And as I mentioned, I know his intentions are good and yes, everyone should have the freedom to choose who he works with.
I suppose others would have to be the judge of that but I try...
I have actually stopped watching television all together. Nn the one hand because I can no longer hear or see these self-righteous supposed journalists and on the other hand because the programme selection is an insult to my intelligence not to mention that the advertising is simply intolerable.
A wonderful piece from a wonderful person.
Very happy it resonated. Thank you Tim, for your comment and appreciation.

Or you are just a nice person.

You seem to think that there must be no qualified people, who are unvaxxed, for your friend to hire. I find that curious.
