For more than two years now, we have been living in an unprecedented state of emergency that has had a serious impact on most people - physically, psychologically, and economically.
Humanity has taken great losses, families have been divided and in some cases broken up, and the collateral damage is far from foreseeable. This has been said many times and it cannot be said often enough!
Since then, I have experienced an unhealthy form (I guess that is the only form ) of extremism on both sides and this frightens me immensely because it shows how tragically advanced this division of our society has become.
The unvaccinated were quickly exchanged by the Russians (in autumn at the latest the un-jabbed will surely be enemy #1 again), then there is climate change (no surprises here), and we will see what comes next.
So it got me thinking quite a bit when a friend proudly announced a while ago that he had hired new people and made the decision to only hire unvaccinated employees from now on. For me, this has a similar significance to the people who proudly continue to wear their masks to show how superior they are to others because they continue to protect themselves and of course all others.
I do see where he is coming from and I know for a fact that his intentions are good - because he is a good man - especially as it may be more difficult for many to find a new job as a non-jabbed individual with integrity at the moment. I can even understand a preference but at the end of the day I believe it may be
a. a little short-sighted to hire people based on their vaccination status rather than their qualifications. It is similar to refusing to hire homosexuals, women, men, Christians, Jews, Buddhists, blacks, whites, cowboys, Indians (yes, I used the bad word that apparently is to be banned), or whatever… I think you know where I am going!
b. I know that many have allowed themselves to be jabbed because they had no or saw no choice as their livelihood and that of their families depend on it. Does this make them bad people, less qualified, or unworthy of getting a job?
I also know how easy it is to say you always have a choice and I am someone who truly believes in choices very much, but sometimes when reality kicks in, for some (perhaps they are) weaker minded, it was and is a real and a very difficult struggle. I do try to see and understand both sides of this coin.
What absolutely terrified me though was a conversation I had with an acquaintance just a couple of weeks ago, that I cannot quite get out of my head. His call came out of the blue and at first, I was pleasantly surprised - we had been out of touch for years. The direction the conversation took pretty quickly really gave me the creeps though. Apparently, he was looking for a woman that is unvaccinated, and his radical attitude (I know no better way to state it), his aggressiveness with which he spoke about the people that were so idiotic, stupid, cowardly, disgusting, and inferior (to name just a few) to get the jab, was absolutely appalling. It was the demeaning way he spoke about other human beings, people he does not know, whose motivations he doesn’t know, that made me cringe. Once he really got started, I barely got a word in. He had this aura of horrible energy, the energy of an angry and very broken person - I don’t know how else to describe it. He appeared completely crazed and when he started talking about the stink that the vaccinated emanate, I was done. I don’t often block people, but I immediately blocked him after this horrible monologue.
“It's not mere extremism that makes folks at the fringes so troubling; it's extremism wedded to false beliefs. Humans have long been dupes, easily gulled by rumors and flat-out lies.” — Jeffrey Kluger
People are being judged by their status of vaccination and that makes us just as bad as the governments and the misguided people that supported this new form of segregation by excluding the non-vaccinated. I know the Bible states, “An eye for an eye”, but I had hoped we had evolved enough to get over that.
Of course, everyone should choose the employees who suit them, because one thing is clear: apart from qualifications, it's usually the chemistry that decides in the end anyway.
But if we choose to approach matters with a bias, to begin with, everyone loses and we are doomed to repeat history! I don’t know where this extremism is coming from but it is something that has never quite worked for me in most aspects at all - although I can admittedly be quite opinionated at times.
The tightrope walk between optimism and realism is becoming increasingly difficult. We are being conditioned into becoming a society of
“If you are not for me, you are automatically against me!”
I find this not only sad but downright terrifying!
“It's never a good sign when extremism becomes the norm.” — Ari Melber
Another example is how the media is now trying to play the blame game with those who are not interested in eating insects or artificial meat substitutes. It is suggested that people who still have the audacity to actually eat real meat are automatically labeled as bad people. I'm not going to start a fundamental debate about factory farming etc. - which personally I find horrible - but once again it appears to be black or white. Life is so colourful -
or at least it should be, with all the nuances that make it beautiful - but we are all supposed to be pressed into the same mould, no matter how much of our personality and individuality falls by the wayside.
In this technocratic world, in which everything is to be so frantically standardised, things like creativity, art, poetry, and other things that make it beautiful and worthwhile seem to be becoming obsolete. The world is getting so much colder - global warming my arse! It’s a bit like Dementors sucking all of the joy and happiness from this world!
When you think back, a president was impeached from office because of a blow job - essentially (no matter how you may feel about it) harming no one but his own reputation, his family, and his intern - and today politicians are allowed to determine over the bodies of their citizens and what is introduced into them, force hideous measure on their people and get away with it - but hopefully not for long though.
What our politicians are doing is high treason against the people, against their mandate to govern, and against humanity!
And our physicians are playing along! The Hippocratic Oath, well known and believed by many to still be taken by physicians today has become obsolete. And in case someone is not familiar with the wording:
The Hippocratic Oath
“I SWEAR by Apollo the physician and AEsculapius, and Health, and All-heal, and all the gods and goddesses, that, according to my ability and judgment, I will keep this Oath and this stipulation -- to reckon him who taught me this Art equally dear to me as my parents, to share my substance with him, and relieve his necessities if required; to look upon his offspring in the same footing as my own brothers, and to teach them this art, if they shall wish to learn it, without fee or stipulation; and that by precept, lecture, and every other mode of instruction, I will impart a knowledge of the Art to my own sons, and those of my teachers, and to disciples bound by a stipulation and oath according to the law of medicine, but to none others. I will follow that system of regimen which, according to my ability and judgement, I consider for the benefit of my patients, and abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous.I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and in like manner I will not give to a woman a pessary to produce abortion. With purity and with holiness I will pass my life and practice my Art. I will not cut persons labouring under the stone, but will leave this to be done by men who are practitioners of this work. Into whatever houses I enter, I will go into them for the benefit of the sick, and will abstain from every voluntary act of mischief and corruption; and, further, from the seduction of females or males, of freemen and slaves. Whatever, in connection with my professional service, or not in connection with it, I see or hear, in the life of men, which ought not to be spoken of abroad, I will not divulge, as reckoning that all such should be kept secret. While I continue to keep this Oath unviolated, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and the practice of the art, respected by all men, in all times. But should I trespass and violate this Oath, may the reverse be my lot.” — Source: "Harvard Classics Volume 38" Copyright 1910 by P.F. Collier and Son.
This Oath has been replaced by the Physician’s Pledge, adopted by the 2nd General Assembly of the World Medical Association, Geneva, Switzerland, September 1948.

Perhaps physicians around the world should read this on a daily basis to remind themselves of their duty, their honour, and their motivations. If they find themselves compromised, perhaps they should reconsider their choice of profession.

Integrity
You can strip me to the bone, You can even rob me blind, And take away all I own, In the end I won’t even mind. But I will resist with all my might, And the one thing you will never get from me, Even if you bring on all your spite, And that is my integrity!

Kidding. When I first encountered that term for the unjabbed I almost hurled.
Curiously I have friends (and family) in several countries, some of home decided to get the vax, some didn’t. I can’t recall a single acrimonious interaction about this. Also curiously, none of these people is much active on social media.
