Consequences are hard Tanja and particularly when we don't expect them. Some can be foreseen but it is the unintended consequences that are a real issue and often not understood within organizations. I did like your own quote: "When making decisions one very relevant question for me is if am I willing to bear the consequences, even if I don‘t know them." Often - we don't know them because we fail to think about the consequences before we act. Your post is a great reminder to think more deeply about consequences.
