I have written several posts on decisions and how we make them. I believe we can establish that all our actions and decisions have consequences - one way or another.
„Nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices.“ — Alfred A. Montapert
We are very much caught up in our heads most of the time weighing our options, trying to take all consequences into account - which is of course, impossible - and trying to make informed choices.
Or at least that is how I believe it should be.
There is one more thing to consider when making choices and decisions, which to me is a rather important part. When making decisions one very relevant question for me is if am I willing to bear the consequences, even if I don‘t know them.
„In nature there are neither rewards nor punishments; there are consequences.“ — Robert Green Ingersoll
What I mean by that is am I willing to take the possibility into account that all will go to hell, that I could fail epically, and even get hurt?
Of course, it depends on what type of person you are. Are you a risk taker, do you rather play it safe, or are you somewhere in between?
What we have, or at least I have experienced in the last years is that too many people are simply not aware of the dire consequences that the decision of complacency, ignorance, and indifference are going to have and are already having.
My impression is that a lot of people are not willing to take responsibility or be accountable for anything anymore. A generation is being raised that is groomed to be entitled, uneducated, reluctant to work, and incapable of independent thinking. Essentially they will be the drones for the elites that promise them that they will own nothing (which is absolutely true) and will be happy (which is absolutely untrue).
The consequences will most likely be socialism, communism, marxism, or however you want to call it - which has never worked anywhere, at least not for the good of the majority of the people - and will result in a new form of slavery and total control.
Can you imagine how simple it will be to control these people? It’s like taking sweets from a baby…
What makes matters even worse is that more and more people appear reliant on AI, which also has dire consequences. At the end of the day, AI is nothing but the extended arm of the main-stream media and thus a progression of censorship already taking place. I have been told by quite a few people to make use of AI for different things. Even if I am sure that I am probably already using it unintentionally, I simply refuse to use it deliberately.
I do like to think for myself, to use the different channels available to me, and form my own opinions - and no, I don’t care if anyone is offended by them as that is their issue and not mine. I am not ever claiming that my opinions are right, only that they are right for me. Assisted thinking, as we have it in this day and age, will have horrific consequences and make it all the more simple to manipulate and control people.
When you combine that with the growing sense of entitlement of a large portion of the population you get a dangerous mix. I loved this definition of Entitlement!
„A man does what he must - in spite of personal consequences, in spite of obstacles and dangers and pressures - and that is the basis of all human morality.“ — John F. Kennedy

📚My Poem for you
Is by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)
The Builders
All are architects of Fate, Working in these walls of Time; Some with massive deeds and great, Some with ornaments of rhyme. Nothing useless is, or low; Each thing in its place is best; And what seems but idle show Strengthens and supports the rest. For the structure that we raise, Time is with materials filled; Our to-days and yesterdays Are the blocks with which we build. Truly shape and fashion these; Leave no yawning gaps between; Think not, because no man sees, Such things will remain unseen. In the elder days of Art, Builders wrought with greatest care Each minute and unseen part; For the Gods see everywhere. Let us do our work as well, Both the unseen and the seen; Make the house, where Gods may dwell, Beautiful, entire, and clean. Else our lives are incomplete, Standing in these walls of Time, Broken stairways, where the feet Stumble as they seek to climb. Build to-day, then, strong and sure, With a firm and ample base; And ascending and secure Shall to-morrow find its place. Thus alone can we attain To those turrets, where the eye Sees the world as one vast plain, And one boundless reach of sky.

It’s not a personal one today but I believe a very fitting one anyway…

Consequences are hard Tanja and particularly when we don't expect them. Some can be foreseen but it is the unintended consequences that are a real issue and often not understood within organizations. I did like your own quote: "When making decisions one very relevant question for me is if am I willing to bear the consequences, even if I don‘t know them." Often - we don't know them because we fail to think about the consequences before we act. Your post is a great reminder to think more deeply about consequences.
