As always, your own experience and stories open up further understanding. Vulnerability is a two-edged sword and I suppose another idea that goes with vulnerability is authenticity. In some cultures it seems easier to be more vulnerable and the British culture has always had a sense of the stiff upper lip. It may be why the Harry and Meghan series with lots of vulnerability has had such a bad backlash in the UK. Google Translate tells me that Schwachstelle is the German word. Does this have the same implications as vulnerability?

Thank you as always for your feedback, Reuben. The German equivalent for vulnerability would be Verletzlichkeit. I absolutely agree that vulnerability is a two-edged sword. But I rather show my vulnerability than hide it, even at the risk of being hurt. But I also protect myself where necessary!

Great use of language again - I happened to be sipping from my mug of tea when I read the word "wuss" and I did snort some up my nose as a result. I am also a big fan of smooth stones :)

Thank you, Jon! I am just imagining you with tea shooting from your nose. I should probably apologise but now I am laughing and you made my day!

😂 I heard the earl grey rinse is on the rise!

I hope you are home for Christmas already?

Sadly not home, no, though I have had two Christmases already. A two bird roast and a veggie one, though that veggie one was only because the family weekend away to Vienna got no further than push back from the apron at Terminal 1 Manchester Airport before the flight was cancelled. I'm here on the ship for the next 4 weeks, but I have joined a band on board so it is not all bad, we'll be doing a special Christmas performance which will cheer the band up, if not the rest of the crew...!

Then sending some holiday cheer your way and send a video of your performance!

Thank you very much, there is some video of us already from last trip, if you want to risk it. It's on YouTube - search for "brod lou" or @rosveltloubalais, he's the guitarist singer. Bear in mind I had not picked up a bass guitar until about 2 weeks before the recordings so you will need to manage your expectations. Having said that, the one called Laklak is a banger - Filipino rock!
