“I can’t say when you’ll get love or how you’ll find it or even promise that you will. I can only say you are worthy of it and that it’s never too much to ask for it and that it’s not crazy to fear you’ll never have it again, even though your fears are probably wrong. Love is our essential nutrient. Without it, life has little meaning. It’s the best thing we have to give and the most valuable thing we receive. It’s worthy of all the hullabaloo.” — Cheryl Strayed
I love this quote from Cheryl Strayed, and I am sure that many of you know her because you have either read her book “Wild” or have seen the Film with Reese Witherspoon. This quote is so beautiful because it is true. Why else would we make such a fuss, such a HULLABALOO about love? Why else are there myriads of love songs, love poems, love sonnets, and love films out there? And why do we love them so much? Love is the one power that keeps us going, that gives us strength, and most important of all, hope.
„True love is like ghosts, which everyone talks about and few have seen.“ — Francois de La Rochefoucauld
hullabaloo [ huhl-uh-buh-loo ]
noun, plural hul·la·ba·loos
Definition: a clamorous noise or disturbance; uproar
Synonyms: fuss commotion uproar hubbub outcry furore ruckus ado palaver
Someone once said to me that “Love is enough” and I actually have a stunningly beautiful book with the same title to prove it. I believe in these words, I trust them – as so many of you probably have as well at some point in your life, until the trust is broken! We have to face that sometimes - unfortunately - love is not enough and a person leaves your life, or you leave without looking back. But you know that your love was and is true, real, and strong, and you are one of the blessed ones that are capable of this amazing and unconditional love with all of its Hullabaloo. That is when you know it was worth it, it was worth the Hullabaloo and it is exactly that which makes you strong. It is when you know what was your yesterday and what you wish your today to be.
It is the kind of love that can make your world stand still, that is all-consuming, that takes your breath away, and is so easy to give because you have it in absolute abundance. Then there are people who are more concerned about their reputation, social status, money, about comfort, and in some way, I do pity these individuals. They may not get as badly hurt as those who truly love and give their all and give in to the Hullabaloo. But their world will never stand still, they will not have their breath taken away, or care more about the wellbeing of this one other person than of their own. These are the people that have no idea what the Hullabaloo is all about and may even shake their heads, especially when we fall into that deep dark pit of sorrow when it does go wrong, when we suffer to the extent of almost giving ourselves up, terrified that we may never love or be loved again.
I have amazing news for you. Go back to the beginning of this letter and read Cheryl Strayed’s quote again. Love is something that will always be there. Perhaps you are not yet ready to receive it because you are still processing something and not quite open to giving and receiving love - just yet. But I truly believe that you can get there again if you really want to. You don’t even need to try as love will find you.
I wish for everyone to at least once find a love that makes your world stand still, that takes your breath away, that makes you know what deep love and happiness are, that great love that envelops you, a love that sweeps you off your feet, a love that is gentle and kind, and yet so unbelievably passionate. A love that does not cease to excite you and makes you want to be the very best version of yourself. A love that makes you want only good and happiness for that one special person, even if in the end it is without you.
I know exactly what that kind of love feels like. I know what it feels like to lose it and more than that I know what it feels like to miss it with every fibre of my being. Would I trade never having had it for not missing it and for never having felt such pain?
NEVER! Not even for a second!
The one thing you must know is that there is more than one love that is worth all the HULLABALOO out there for all of us, even if we may not believe it when we are hurting or trying to get over a great love. It is somewhere out there waiting. And yes, I am a hopeless romantic and hopelessly optimistic.
„Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses.“ — Ann Landers
For me, the Hullabaloo is about being brave enough to embrace love with every high and low it has to offer, with all the joy and pain - preferably the joy, of course - and enjoying life to the fullest and in the present!

📚My Poem of the Week
Is by Sir Philip Sidney (1554-1586)
My true love hath my heart, and I have his
My true love hath my heart, and I have his, By just exchange one for the other given: I hold his dear, and mine he cannot miss; There never was a bargain better driven. His heart in me keeps me and him in one; My heart in him his thoughts and senses guides: He loves my heart, for once it was his own; I cherish his because in me it bides. His heart his wound received from my sight; My heart was wounded with his wounded heart; For as from me on him his hurt did light, So still, methought, in me his hurt did smart: Both equal hurt, in this change sought our bliss, My true love hath my heart, and I have his.

This was great Tanja - walk towards the pain! (and the joy). The clip of the Stapletons singing "If It Hadn't Been For Love" was wonderful. Not sure it counts as country but what wonderful musicianship. I'll start to use "hullabaloo" more now!
