At the end of a year, one often looks back to take stock, and even though I usually prefer to look forward, I took the liberty of looking once again at the statistics of the Change & Evolve Letter to see which of my 138 letters were read/clicked the most and I was quite surprised.
By far the most viewed was my letter "FAMILY" published on 25 February 2022.
“The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege.” — Charles Kuralt
Perhaps this is not really a surprise as families in times of war (yes, we are and have been at war for almost three years now) come together and become stronger or sometimes they break. In any case, it is a theme that comes strongly to the forefront of your life when it gets tough.
“The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life.” — Richard Bach
The next letter I would like to mention, that made second place, is from 26 November 2021 "EVOLUTION" which seems to have struck a nerve in many readers and it is actually one that I am particularly proud of.
“What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans, and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?” — Mahatma Gandhi
I started publishing SPECIAL ISSUES in January this year - which were not actually planned and have taken on a life of their own and I can't imagine my newsletter without them (Change & Evolve after all) - and one specific one is the third most read letter - along with another I'll come to in a moment - "SPECIAL ISSUE #12" subtitled "CAN WE STILL SAVE OUR SOCIETY AND OUR SOULS?" It is (sadly) as topical as ever!
“Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.” — Haile Selassie
I actually just wanted to mention only the top three here for those who haven't read them and might enjoy reading or perhaps just re-reading them. But there is one that got only one less click than SPECIAL ISSUE #12 and that is my article of 11 February 2022 "SOULMATES".
“Marriage is miserable unless you find the right person that is your soulmate and that takes a lot of looking.” — Marvin Gaye
Admittedly this was my biggest surprise and yet it shows that we long for connection, community, and for love.
What remains is to wish you all a great start to the new year and I look forward to all that is to come.
As for 2022 - IT'S A WRAP!
🎶My Song of the Week
I chose a song from an amazing artist with an even more amazing story. If you want to watch one of the best music documentaries go for “Searching for Sugar Man”

A Song for New Year's Eve
Stay yet, my friends, a moment stay— Stay till the good old year, So long companion of our way, Shakes hands, and leaves us here. Oh stay, oh stay, One little hour, and then away. The year, whose hopes were high and strong, Has now no hopes to wake; Yet one hour more of jest and song For his familiar sake. Oh stay, oh stay, One mirthful hour, and then away. The kindly year, his liberal hands Have lavished all his store. And shall we turn from where he stands, Because he gives no more? Oh stay, oh stay, One grateful hour, and then away. Days brightly came and calmly went, While yet he was our guest; How cheerfully the week was spent! How sweet the seventh day's rest! Oh stay, oh stay, One golden hour, and then away. Dear friends were with us, some who sleep Beneath the coffin-lid: What pleasant memories we keep Of all they said and did! Oh stay, oh stay, One tender hour, and then away. Even while we sing, he smiles his last, And leaves our sphere behind. The good old year is with the past; Oh be the new as kind! Oh stay, oh stay, One parting strain, and then away.
