SPECIAL ISSUE #73
The Chilling Rise of Moral Fanaticism Disguised as Virtue
It has been a while since I published a SPECIAL ISSUE, and when I read this article by Boris Reitschuster, I knew I had to share it. If you prefer to read the original German version you can find it here.
When Moral Zeal Justifies Murder
What looks like satire is bitter reality
Published on Sept. 15, 2025 - Boris Reitschuster
At first, I thought it was satire. Then trolling. For a brief moment, I even hoped it was fake.
But the email was real. And it wasn’t a one-off. It was sent broadly to independent journalists, writers, and publishers—people you couldn’t easily pin to a single political camp, but who share one thing in common: they’re inconvenient. They ask questions. And they don’t fit neatly into the left-wing worldview.
The sender calls themselves “Rote Kapelle International.” The irony is glaring—this was the name of a historic anti-Nazi resistance group, now hijacked by people trying to normalise totalitarian thinking.
The email begins with high-minded rhetoric: they are allegedly “working tirelessly for a fairer, more humane, and enlightened world.” And then comes one of the most vicious sentences I’ve read in a long time:
“On the occasion of the self-inflicted death of agitator Charlie Kirk…”
The murder of a conservative activist—openly celebrated. And labeled “self-inflicted.” As if he provoked it. As if outrage is misplaced—and gratitude is in order.
These people claim to fight hate—yet speak like fanatical clerical fascists.
What follows is a “Questionnaire on Moral and Ethical Integrity”—20 questions supposedly meant to “unmask the true faces behind the slogans.” In reality, it’s a mix of inquisitorial witch-hunting, moral blackmail, and rhetorical terrorism.
A Few Examples?
Do you believe in the Holocaust?
Do you worship Adolf Hitler?
Do you support violence to achieve right-wing political goals?
Questions like these dehumanise the person being asked. This isn’t about enlightenment; it’s about ideological control. One might as well ask:
“Do you eat small children?”
“Do you rape puppies?”
“Do you hate rainbows?”
The logic is identical: the questioner projects guilt onto the recipient before a word is spoken.
The New Totalitarianism Wears Hoodies
This kind of thinking is not harmless. It’s not “quirky” or “a bit overzealous.” It’s dangerous. It combines moral self-righteousness with a totalitarian mindset—and feels justified in doing so.
The authors of this email believe they are fighting for “equality,” “dignity,” and “tolerance.” But anyone reading their words sees immediately: tolerance only applies to their own tribe. Everyone else is fair game.
Mourn Charlie Kirk?
Believe there are only two genders?
Criticise multiculturalism?
You’re instantly suspicious. Instantly accused of “Hitler worship.” Reflexively, brutally, without thought.
Why I’m Documenting This Madness
Normally, I don’t give this kind of garbage oxygen. I’ve seen too many cranks and ideological smear campaigns to react to every provocation. But this one matters.
This email is a symptom. It shows how deeply this new fanaticism has penetrated supposedly “progressive” circles. It shows how quickly humanity becomes a mask—and hatred a virtue. It’s a perfect case study in moral depravity disguised as moral virtue.
That’s precisely why it should be published—not for debate, but as documentation. As a warning.
The truly frightening part? These people believe they’re the good guys. That it’s necessary to write things like this. They don’t see that history’s worst crimes weren’t committed by people who thought they were evil. They were committed by people convinced they were righteous, superior, and “on the right side of history.”
Whether Nazis or communists, every atrocity they committed was enabled by moral certainty.
This email targeted journalists and publishers who reject the mainstream narrative. Not neo-Nazis. Not flat-earthers. Not Telegram conspiracy theorists. Just inconvenient, often intellectual voices who won’t conform. And for that, they’re now to be “morally aligned” with Hitler quizzes.
Read the full email if you can stomach it. But don’t dismiss it as an isolated case. It’s not a sideshow. This is the new face of intolerance. And it’s time we confront it—loudly, clearly, and with the courage that’s unfortunately needed again today.
Subject of the Email: “Questionnaire – Right-Wing Agitation”
Dear Sir/Madam,
We, Rote Kapelle International, are tirelessly working for a fairer, more humane, and enlightened world. At a time when hate and intolerance are unfortunately growing louder and more visible, it is essential that every voice is heard—even those opposed to progress and equality. On the occasion of the self-inflicted death of agitator Charlie Kirk:
We have created a list of specific questions to understand where individuals stand in their convictions. These questions are clear, direct, and unambiguous, and we demand that you answer them truthfully. This is not only an opportunity to express your beliefs but also a test of your moral and ethical integrity.
Here are the questions we ask you to answer:
Do you believe in the Holocaust?
Do you hate foreigners?
Do you mourn Charlie Kirk?
Do you support free speech even for those who disagree with you?
Do you support violence to achieve right-wing political goals?
Do you believe some races or ethnicities are superior?
Should refugees be welcomed in your country?
Do you believe history portrays National Socialism fairly?
Do you want a return to an authoritarian regime?
Do you believe conspiracy theories about Jewish control of global events?
Do you think it’s right to discriminate based on sexual orientation?
Do you call yourself a nationalist?
Do you believe climate change is real and man-made?
Do you reject the Basic Law and democratic order?
Should cultural differences be overcome?
Do you think women should have fewer rights than men?
Do you worship Adolf Hitler?
Do you believe there are only two genders?
Should civil rights be secured for all, or only some groups?
Is multiculturalism harmful to society?
Your honest answers will help us uncover the true faces behind the slogans and continue our work against hate and for humanity. Be brave and honest—show us what you really believe.
With militant greetings,
Rote Kapelle International
I’ll spare you a detailed analysis of this propaganda drivel. We’re all too busy, and intelligent readers can spot the manipulative tricks for themselves.
They call this “enlightenment.” In truth, it’s **repression—**painted over with a rainbow veneer.
People who ask such questions don’t want answers. They want submission.
History teaches us: those convinced they hold the truth and superior morality are usually the first to lose respect—and then lose their humanity.
PS: One of the recipients responded brilliantly:
“Thank you for your questionnaire. I assume you sent it to the wrong address.
Please forward your questions to the organisers of the antisemitic pro-Palestine demonstrations and the left-wing extremist organisations supporting them. I’m sure you already have their contact details.”
