WHEN IDEOLOGIES ARE MORE RELEVANT THAN FACTS

I don't know whether I should see the Green Party in Germany as a deluded cult or a terrorist organisation. Basically, it doesn't matter, because it has discredited and disqualified itself as a political party - at least in my eyes.

But I am really doing an injustice to the other governing parties in the coalition because they are hardly better than the Green Party. Nevertheless, the Greens are so blinded by their ideology that they now completely disregard facts, and their actions and lies must be considered grossly negligent (and I put it very politely here).

I lost faith in politics a long time ago but what is happening now, in my opinion, borders on treason. I have written it before and some things are worth repeating. Elected politicians are public servants, i.e. servants of the people and obliged to act in their interest. That politicians have always put their own interests first is nothing new, but that they completely ignore or trample on the interests of the people who elected them into office is - I can't put it any other way - treason!
We have a Minister of Economy who does not know what insolvency is, who hopes for a mild winter in an energy crisis, and who does not care whether the population is starving or freezing. We have a Foreign Minister who puts the welfare of the people of another country before the welfare of her own people - again and again. We have a Minister of Health who is caught up in COVID hysteria and has been completely wrong in everything he has predicted. We have a criminal as Chancellor whose only defense is his memory lapses and that seems to be enough because he is still in office. And this Chancellor now, in the midst of an economic crisis, wants to start the extensive expansion of the Chancellor's Office for a currently estimated 777 million euros - we all know that this sum will at least triple (we have enough recent experiences of taxpayer’s money pits with the Berlin Airport or Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, to name just a few). This government has lost all sense of proportion and worse, all sense of reality.

The German government is a declaration of bankruptcy for everything Germany once stood for. The current government is not only ridiculous but in my eyes also dangerous. I don't even want to talk about the ever-increasing number of MPs (736) in the German Bundestag - who are more and more often conspicuous by their absence and who are paid lavishly with taxpayers' money on a monthly basis (the so-called "MPs' allowance" of 10,012.89 euros, as well as other allowances).

Politics has long since ceased to be about the good of the country. As long as there are no minimum requirements for politicians, things will not get better but much worse. In any profession, you need training to be allowed to practice that profession. This is obviously completely irrelevant in politics! Every school or university dropout enters politics without any qualifications whatsoever - apart from greed, turning a blind eye to reality, and the need to be utterly corrupt.
In the past, people in Germany used to say: “Wer nichts wird, wird Wirt.” - “If you don't become anything, you become a pub owner” (I apologise to all pub owners). Today you become a politician, you are allowed to co-govern a country and drive it to certain ruin without having to bear any consequences whatsoever.

I am sure that there are people who go into politics with the right qualification and the good intention of serving the country and its people. But I believe that the system is so broken that even these honourable people are either sucked into this broken system, forced to play along or they are simply expelled from the club.

You don't have to be particularly bright to realise that not only some things but pretty much everything is going wrong here. There's a flaw in the system and, as always, the country's citizens are getting the bill. Unfortunately, they usually wake up too late! I find it shameful what our civil servants allow themselves to do and I find it equally shameful that the majority of citizens put up with it.

Then we have those nincompoops that call themselves climate activists, with nothing better to do than to stick themselves to the streets, not giving a shake of a rats arse whether an ambulance is held up by them, and with these actions putting peoples lives at risk. Or they have the brilliant idea to proudly throw mashed potatoes at a Monet painting, shouting out that people are starving and freezing. They are so thick, that they actually find it appropriate to throw with food, while stating that people are starving, not considering in the least there are people out there who really do not know how to bring food to the table of their families. That is a generation that appears to be hopelessly misguided by the fame of the likes of Greta Thunberg, hoping for their own few minutes of fame and obviously not realising that they are simply criminals that should be prosecuted. What they are doing has nothing to do whatsoever with activism and everything with being destructive and criminal, stuck in an ideology while ignoring the facts.

On a side note, a few days ago I received the following, rather disturbing message from my phone provider and I was flabbergasted:

Your Telekom

One thing I know for sure is that my phone will be off on December 8th. I am absolutely disgusted by this invasive measure and am seriously considering getting rid of my phone all together, or I'm thinking of getting an old push-button phone again. I am so tired of all of this and perhaps going off the grid is the only alternative.

The things that this government is approving and promoting are not only invasive but feel like an assault on personal rights. I have no idea if this is another German thing or if this is happening in other countries as well. Let me know!

📚My Poem of the Day

Is one of the most famous political poems of the twentieth century, ‘Easter 1916’ responds ambivalently to the events of the Easter Rising in Dublin in 1916, which saw political rebels attempt to oust the British and establish independent rule in Ireland. As WB Yeats’s refrain has it, ‘A terrible beauty is born.’
