I was brought up more or less in an environment of fear, so I really know quite a bit about fear holding us back. I have worked hard though to not let fear dictate my life and the things I do - sometimes more and sometimes less successfully. Don’t get me wrong, I am in general not a fearful person, quite the contrary. I do sometimes tend to choose the wrong battles though, but that is an entirely different story.
Fear is never and has never been a good adviser and has been the primary worldwide theme for the past years. But it is not only this fear that is holding people back from living a happy and fulfilling life, the life we are intended to live, a life filled with love and happiness. You may believe me to be naïve, and perhaps I am in many ways, but I truly believe that it is our purpose and our right to be happy and to be loved.
Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is freedom. — Marilyn Ferguson
And yet there are things standing in the way of that life.
When you were brought up to do what you were expected to do rather than what makes you happy, is one of them!
When you fear doing what is good and right for you! You rather live a lie and a life of mediocrity than be insanely happy because you are afraid of change and evolving!
Fear takes so much away from us, as we have had to experience more and more in recent years. But it is above all in our personal lives that we so often let fear guide us and thus stand in our way.
We hold on to things that are long past their expiry date without realising that they are making us sick and miserable, and yet we often don't have the courage to change anything. It is the fear of the unknown, the fear of how society perceives us, the fear of what others might say, the fear of judgment, the fear of disappointing others - simply FEAR!
Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously. Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones. — Thich Nhat Hanh
The intense and constant fearporn of the past years has paralysed so many into total submission.
Every so often we create our own fearporn without even knowing it. We strictly follow the moral compass that has been induced by our parents, schools, universities, churches, and especially society - often not questioning if it is right and good. I have mentioned it so very often that I am not a religious person but a very spiritual one. I truly believe in common sense and human kindness - perhaps you could say that this is my personal religion I have been following all my life. Don’t get me wrong, I am not opposed to religion itself, but to the cruel and unjust interpretation of the same by mankind. So much good that originated from religions has been twisted and turned into brutality and ugliness that I personally find unbearable. But I am once again drifting off.
I do know a lot about fear and on occasion, it has overwhelmed me and even paralysed me, so I know very well what that feels like. It is even ok to let that happen but it is essential to not let it become the center of your life.
I know people that have given in to fear and it has made them, their lives, and the lives of those around them terribly miserable.
A life in constant fear is like living in a war zone and if you let yourself be consumed by fear, life will pass you by!
But there most certainly are things we should be afraid of and people we should fear. In my SPECIAL ISSUE #27 I wrote a bit about the German Minister of Health, Karl Lauterbach, a terrifying lunatic, and today I would like to say a few words about Robert Habeck, Vice- Chancellor of Germany and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
He doesn't seem to be quite as insane as Lauterbach but all the more power-hungry and seems to take unbridled pleasure in driving this country further into ruin. He is the one who wants to have the last nuclear power plants in Germany shut down this year - as planned - and has also publicly announced that we will freeze in winter (I am sure he is not including himself and his family).
But what is perhaps less known is that, in order to save energy, he has switched off the air conditioning in the press room and the representatives of the press have to sweat in sweltering heat. Of course, this has the wonderful side effect of shortening press conferences considerably, which can only be a good thing for Mr Habeck and his colleagues to have to answer less unpleasant questions (or evade them).
With a new order that Habeck proposes though, one becomes very aware that Corona is actually only a "training" for the (so-called) climate crisis.
It is about the following order:
Shop doors must remain closed!
"The permanent keeping open of shop doors and entrance systems in retail business premises is prohibited and only permitted as an exception in cases where the keeping open is necessary for the function of the entrance as an emergency exit or escape route".
1. who understands this nonsense?
2. what the hell business is it of politics who leaves their doors open and how?
3. it is a further encroachment on the freedom of how to conduct their business for shop owners.
Where is this going to lead? I can only hope that the shops will not join in and fight back. Next thing you know, private households will be told when and for how long they can ventilate their flats. Our politicians have completely lost all measure and continue to drive people into a corner with their constant fearporn and their hunger for power and control. I can only hope that there are still enough people who realise how absurd this is.
What is a fear of living? It's being preeminently afraid of dying. It is not doing what you came here to do, out of timidity and spinelessness. The antidote is to take full responsibility for yourself - for the time you take up and the space you occupy. If you don't know what you're here to do, then just do some good. — Maya Angelou

📚My Poem of the Day
Is by William Shakespeare (1564-1616)
Fear No More the Heat o’ the Sun
Fear no more the heat o’ the sun, Nor the furious winter’s rages; Thou thy worldly task hast done, Home art gone, and ta’en thy wages: Golden lads and girls all must, As chimney-sweepers, come to dust. Fear no more the frown o’ the great; Thou art past the tyrant’s stroke; Care no more to clothe and eat; To thee the reed is as the oak: The sceptre, learning, physic, must All follow this, and come to dust. Fear no more the lightning flash, Nor the all-dreaded thunder stone; Fear not slander, censure rash; Thou hast finished joy and moan: All lovers young, all lovers must Consign to thee, and come to dust. No exorciser harm thee! Nor no witchcraft charm thee! Ghost unlaid forbear thee! Nothing ill come near thee! Quiet consummation have; And renownèd be thy grave!
