Is the common narrative the new religion of our time?
This thesis alone may seem almost heretical, but I would like to explain a little why I think so, or why I see it that way.
I would like to make one thing very clear in advance. Firstly, as always, this is only an opinion that does not have to be shared - I am, as always happy to have an open and respectful discussion. Secondly, I am not a religious person, but a very spiritual one. I have nothing against religion in principle, but I do have something against what man often makes of it, misuses it, or interprets and uses it for their less than honourable purposes.
I see it similarly with the narrative we have been exposed to for over two years now. It is being used to create fear, to make people compliant, to control and manipulate them.
It reminds me very much of the history of many religions that have persecuted, condemned, discredited, and killed doubters, non-believers, and followers of other religions.
You only have to look back at the Crusades. They went out to convert people or savages as they were called. Christianity was considered the only truth by the initiators of the Crusades. You see what I'm getting at…
If you enjoy reading my Change & Evolve Letter, I would be delighted if you share it with your friends!
Anyone who spoke out against the church was called a heretic and persecuted - just like scientists today who dare to doubt the desired narrative of the pharmaceutical giants.
In the past, there were so-called indulgence letters with which one could buy oneself free of sins. Today this is called vaccination.
Women who were different or simply stood in the way were denounced as witches, tortured, burned, hanged, or drowned. Today, neighbours denounce each other if someone doesn't obey completely nonsensical rules.
The faithful followers of the narrative, just like back then, do not question the sense, or meaningfulness of implemented measures. With almost zombie-like obedience, everything is obeyed without exception, with the deeply rooted belief that our governments want to protect us from harm.
Anyone who does not adhere to the prayer-mill narrative, who doubts it and even dares to say it out loud is ostracised, excluded and worse.
So is the common narrative the religion of our time? I would love to hear your opinion on this.

📚My Poem of the Day
By John Donne (1572-1631)
A Hymn to God the Father
Wilt thou forgive that sin where I begun,
Which was my sin, though it were done before?
Wilt thou forgive that sin, through which I run,
And do run still, though still I do deplore?
When thou hast done, thou hast not done,
For I have more.
Wilt thou forgive that sin which I have won
Others to sin, and made my sin their door?
Wilt thou forgive that sin which I did shun
A year or two, but wallow’d in, a score?
When thou hast done, thou hast not done,
For I have more.
I have a sin of fear, that when I have spun
My last thread, I shall perish on the shore;
But swear by thyself, that at my death thy Son
Shall shine as he shines now, and heretofore;
And, having done that, thou hast done;
I fear no more.

I appreciate your thoughts, and for what it’s worth, I agree the masses have made what’s happening on the world stage their religion. It’s a very angry one, to be sure. Not so much a choice on their part, but an indoctrination by others with ill intent. I pray constantly for God to intervene and put a stop to the madness.
As I Christian I often ponder on how so much of faith is a paradox. We are called to be holy and live a life of separateness from the world, while at the same time to love our neighbor and help those who need help. Christ is the way and truth and the light, no one comes to the Father but through Him, yet God does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to eternal life. Paradox. The John Donne poem you shared was beautiful and really reflected that idea of paradox.
I think part of the reason for our very existence is to wrestle with these in-between places in all of life, for that is what keeps us close to our Creator. Having all the answers would be making ourselves God. That’s part of the horror of the new (yet very old) cultural religion of today. They have ALL the answers, and any deviation is to be harshly punished, with those differing to be shunned (and I fear worse likely to come in future).
Thank you for what you do to bring grace and light to our world.
I’m not so sure. There are a few movements around I would characterise as religions or creeds, typically of the gnostic and eschatological variety. The ‘current thing’ phenomenon strikes me more as a mania (as in tulip-mania). It’s just too short-lived. We should also not forget that the phenomenon is a social media artifact with not a lot of spillover into meatspace.
