There is a topic that keeps popping up again and again as a means to increase the allegedly "low" vaccination rate.
In economics, we speak of a so-called "Pigou" tax when a tax does not primarily have the purpose of providing the state with money for community tasks - but when it is intended to guide people's behaviour.
Around 100 years ago, the British economist Arthur Cecil Pigou developed this idea. Now there are repeated proposals to raise the vaccination rate in Germany - and other countries - with such a tax.
The idea is to try to control the behaviour of those who refuse to vaccinate, similar to tobacco taxes. Practice shows that this brings little - except increased tax revenue for the state.
The Dean of Health Economics at the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Munich, Andreas Beivers, actually believes that a tax paid only by those who have not been vaccinated against Corona could increase the vaccination rate. He even claims that this would be positive for the health of each individual and for the entire health system. A crazy theory! I doubt that even the threat of paying a hideous tax could convince those who have refused the jabs up to now.
Bit this idea has been around for a long time with cigarettes:
"The tobacco tax is also a kind of steering tax. That means we try to steer people towards healthier behaviour. And if that doesn't work, then they at least have to pay a tax to try to cushion the effects somehow."
"Unvaccinated tax" to cover higher health costs is a bad joke. Let's not be fooled, the revenue is certainly not going into our health system. The state has had two years to fix an ailing health system and has done NOTHING. But in the end, that is not the point.
Since more and more people who have been vaccinated are now seriously ill and have to be hospitalised, the very idea is completely absurd.
At least they seem to be partly aware that such a proposal is likely to cause controversy. For up to now, it has been part of the solidarity principle of the German health care system that people are not held financially responsible if they share responsibility for an illness.
Otherwise, anyone with a dangerous hobby, anyone who drives a car or a motorbike, basically anyone who dares to go outside would have to be taxed additionally. You understand what I'm getting at... The whole thing is just ridiculous and it's getting more and more ludicrous. The inconsistencies are no longer even hidden but voiced publicly. Unfortunately, most people seem to be so used to it that they
a. either no longer notice it or
b. they simply don't care
c. they believe everything they are told by "official" sources.
I know I am just one voice, but if you agree I would very much appreciate it if you share this Letter with your friends and people who may care to read it!
We should enjoy spring and summer as much as possible and yet not forget that the next autumn and winter are not too far away. What that means is unfortunately clear. If it is not the Monkey Pox, then there will be other reasons to further curtail our freedoms. If it is not a virus, not a new plandemic, then it will be because of climate change or other absurdities. We must stay awake and everyone should do their part to avert the worst.

📚My Poem of the Day
Is by Emily Brontë (1818-1848)
Hope
Hope was but a timid friend;
She sat without the grated den,
Watching how my fate would tend,
Even as selfish-hearted men.
She was cruel in her fear;
Through the bars one dreary day,
I looked out to see her there,
And she turned her face away!
Like a false guard, false watch keeping,
Still, in strife, she whispered peace;
She would sing while I was weeping;
If I listened, she would cease.
False she was, and unrelenting;
When my last joys strewed the ground,
Even Sorrow saw, repenting,
Those sad relics scattered round;
Hope, whose whisper would have given
Balm to all my frenzied pain,
Stretched her wings, and soared to heaven,
Went, and ne’er returned again!
