I called my newsletter Change & Evolve Letter for two simple reasons. The first reason is that it is the name of my coaching business (without the Letter bit obviously) and the second one is that it allows me to not focus on one specific topic - it always changes and evolves. I realise of course that some of the things I write about are more or less interesting to different readers. I was always wondering if there was a common denominator to my letters or some kind of theme. It was one of my former readers that pointed me in the direction of what all my letters have in common quite some time ago, something I didn’t even realise myself and which may be true - I will let you be the judge of that.
In every letter I write, be it the regular letters or the Special Issues, he pointed out that the common thread always seems to be emotional intelligence. This is something I have thinking about a lot lately and so I am dedicating today’s letter to emotional intelligence and also to Emotional Quotient (EQ) vs. Intelligence Quotient (IQ).
“But once you are in that field, emotional intelligence emerges as a much stronger predictor of who will be most successful, because it is how we handle ourselves in our relationships that determines how well we do once we are in a given job.” — Daniel Goleman
I know that scientists are claiming that in general the IQ is rising by 10 points per decade but what do they know? In my very own personal perception, I believe that in general IQ and EQ especially are on the decline. One of the reasons is that I believe that in general, they are declining in our world due to the agenda that is being pushed on us. People may be getting more emotional but not in a very intelligent way but simply vomit their feelings all over the place expecting everyone else to not only acknowledge them but also to validate them. If that is not a decline, I don’t know what is. What IQ is concerned; it is of course, possible that there are more people with a higher IQ out there but if they don’t make use of it because they have given in to the gaslighting and the supervised thinking, it gets lost - like a muscle that is not trained. The light is on but nobody is home…
But first, let’s have a closer look at what EQ and IQ are. Very simply explained, EQ or Emotional Quotient refers to a person’s ability to understand their own emotions along with another person’s emotions, whereas IQ stands for Intelligence Quotient and indicates a person’s level of intelligence.
Both EQ and IQ can be measured in standardised tests, albeit I am not sure about the accuracy or the validity of standardised tests in general. One measures emotional intelligence and the other the general intelligence. In direct comparison, we have to acknowledge that emotional intelligence is a learned ability that can be improved whereas general intelligence is an inborn ability. Don’t confuse intelligence and education here, that would be a very different topic.
In a nutshell, a person with high EQ can recognise, control, and express their own emotions as well as perceive and assess the emotions of other people. On the contrary, a person with a high IQ can learn, understand, and implement knowledge, and possesses logical reasoning and abstract thinking.
I believe we can conclude that empathy and emotional intelligence are directly related. I have always been someone who is very much in tune with other people’s emotions and can sense a change in emotions and energy almost immediately. This can be a great asset and it can be an enormous burden. Learning to distance myself from the emotions of others and keeping these energies at bay is an ongoing process. On the one hand, it makes my job, working with people so much easier, on the other it can be a struggle to not take that work into my personal life.
I am and always have been attracted to intelligence or call it beautiful minds. I have inherited the intolerance for ignorance and stupidity from my great-grandfather Philipp, whom I had the pleasure to know. I am not as intolerant as he was, simply because I have been working on it, but also because I have realised that I would always prefer people with a high EQ to a high IQ in my life. OK, if I am brutally honest - which I am known to be - I will admit that my favorite people are the ones with a high EQ and IQ - that combination would be my ideal. These people make life so much more interesting, fun, and exciting. But I stand by it - kindness over smarts anytime.
“Whatever you think about his intelligence, what's unquestionable is that Reagan had extraordinary emotional intelligence. He could sense the temperature of a room, and tell them a story and make them feel good. And that's more fun, right? It's more fun to feel good than feel bad. That's part of our human state.” — Rick Perlstein
In today’s world as I see it, with the apparent rise of the IQ - which I still challenge - with a broken education system in which children are being gaslighted and indoctrinated as soon as they step foot into a kindergarten. The generation that is being born now or is still very young is being brought up in line with the sick left-wing agenda. In Germany, there is not even the option of home-schooling, as schooling is compulsory here. So parents who can't afford private schools - although it is questionable whether they are really better - will lose out. This generation is raised to be obedient recipients of orders who are overloaded and overwhelmed with AI and the overkill of media until they accept everything they are told.
With this comes the loss of values, family, faith, and a sense of community - to me, the essentials for which emotional intelligence is needed more than ever. Without these, we are doomed to allow the agenda to take its course.
“Once your IQ is 150 or over, it stops beings ability and becomes a disability.” — Walter O'Brien
Unlike mere perceptions, emotions do more than merely represent the world. They also reflect our values, and if our values are distorted or lost, so are our emotions, leading us to feel and act against our best or long-term interests. Indeed, a single stray emotion can lay waste to the best-laid plans of half a lifetime.
“The energy you create around you is perhaps going to be the most important attribute - in the long run, EQ trumps IQ. Without being a source of energy for others, very little can be accomplished.” — Satya Nadella

📚My Poem for you
Is by William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
Sonnet 116
Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments. Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove. O no! it is an ever-fixed mark That looks on tempests and is never shaken; It is the star to every wand'ring bark, Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come; Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error and upon me prov'd, I never writ, nor no man ever lov'd.

What is your preference if you had to choose between EQ and IQ?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments or send me a message. I very much enjoy hearing from you.
Wishing you a beautiful day wherever you are.
Yours

Great post Tanja. The EQ v IQ divide is one that is seldom recognized these days. We certainly greatly value IQ but these clever people are the ones trying to control us and lead us toward extinction! I think that Daniel Goleman is right about high EQ being a better predictor of success in most work environments.
Very interesting quote about EQ in relation to Reagan and it makes sense.
I think that what you are drawing attention to - and I hadn't thought about this before - is that the education system is seeking produce conformity and it may be that the high EQ students are reluctant to speak out because of the impact it would have and so are all being shepherded into a collectivist future. Lots to think about.
Lake Starnberg seems to have many moods and looks dark and threatening - like our future!
