People who know me also know that I am insatiably curious - and yes, I know that curiosity killed the cat, that’s why they have nine lives. Considering my curiosity I must have a lot more…
I have this nerve wracking need to understand things, and here we are again:
“You can only expect people to have understanding when they understand!” — Me
I have lost a lot in the course of my life but never my curiosity that is often (ok, most of the time) even childlike or my sense of humour. Yes, I can still be amazed, even by the smallest of things!
We come into this world and discover it with this overwhelming curiosity, that is how we learn, change and evolve. That is also why we try things out, to experience them for ourselves out of curiosity. My curiosity often got me into trouble and I never regretted any of it.
The four characteristics of humanism are curiosity, a free mind, belief in good taste, and belief in the human race. — E. M. Forster
By staying curious and looking at challenges from a different perspective you might discover something better that wasn’t initially right in front of you. It can be such an exciting journey!

When I was a child, we didn't have much money. I already had that great passion for music at the age of seven. A music system was just not in the budget but I wanted more than just my little mono cassette recorder (the sound really was appalling), so when I found my parents’ old tube radio I started experimenting. I connected it with my cassette recorder and a few speakers. That was my improvised "stereo system" and I actually made it work. In the age of smartphones this might sound very “stone age” to most but perhaps some of you remember… It was still far from stereo but the sound was so much better, or at least louder - to my parents’ despair. When the radio, which acted as an amplifier, stopped working one day, I was inconsolable. So I took it apart, carefully cleaned all the parts and put it back together. I had nothing to lose and was curious to know how such a radio worked and if I could repair it. Ok, it was probably just a lucky coincidence that it worked again, as I'm not a technical hero (that’s an understatement). But I somehow made it work again and I was overjoyed (and rather proud).
Human spirit is the ability to face the uncertainty of the future with curiosity and optimism. It is the belief that problems can be solved, differences resolved. It is a type of confidence. And it is fragile. It can be blackened by fear and superstition. — Bernard Beckett
Admittedly there is one aspect in my life where my curiosity has hit rock bottom and is close to none existent - the news! I have stopped watching, reading and listening to the MSM almost completely as I simply cannot bear the repetitive narrative and the smug faces of those delivering it. There is one exception, and here is where my curiosity kicks in again. I force myself to get an MSM update once a week (not that much changes, although even when you think it cannot get any worse they manage to prove me wrong) for only one reason. I can understand better why and how most people argue and understand why the act the way they do.
At the moment my curiosity, as unnerving as it may be at times, is often driving me to despair. I simply cannot get my head around to what is happening around us. My curiosity has caused me to dive in deeper into the current world events and has caused a deep mistrust for the MSM, the government, the measures, the health system, to name just a few. I see history repeating itself in the most terrifying way and the majority of people that have been affected by this mass hypnosis are just shrugging the injustice off as if it were irrelevant - especially towards our children. The segregation is running deep in the population of most countries and it has even affected my friends, which hurts and saddens me the most.
The amazing thing though is that my curiosity has also led me deeper into my spiritual self and if nothing else, I believe that the light side will win as it eventually always does. Good is stronger than bad, love is stronger than hate. I believe in good and I believe in love. I know that even this madness will be over one day.
Curiosity will conquer fear even more than bravery will. — James Stephens

Upside Down by Jack Johnson, sends the message to always stay curious…
📚My Poem of the Week
As I was writing about curiosity killing the cat, I believe the perfect poem is
The Rum Tum Tugger by T. S. Eliot (1888-1965)
The Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat:
If you offer him pheasant he would rather have grouse.
If you put him in a house he would much prefer a flat,
If you put him in a flat then he'd rather have a house.
If you set him on a mouse then he only wants a rat,
If you set him on a rat then he'd rather chase a mouse.
Yes the Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat--
And there isn't any call for me to shout it:
For he will do
As he do do
And there's no doing anything about it!
The Rum Tum Tugger is a terrible bore:
When you let him in, then he wants to be out;
He's always on the wrong side of every door,
And as soon as he's at home, then he'd like to get about.
He likes to lie in the bureau drawer,
But he makes such a fuss if he can't get out.
Yes the Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat--
And there isn't any use for you to doubt it:
For he will do
As he do do
And there's no doing anything about it!
The Rum Tum Tugger is a curious beast:
His disobliging ways are a matter of habit.
If you offer him fish then he always wants a feast;
When there isn't any fish then he won't eat rabbit.
If you offer him cream then he sniffs and sneers,
For he only likes what he finds for himself;
So you'll catch him in it right up to the ears,
If you put it away on the larder shelf.
The Rum Tum Tugger is artful and knowing,
The Rum Tum Tugger doesn't care for a cuddle;
But he'll leap on your lap in the middle of your sewing,
For there's nothing he enjoys like a horrible muddle.
Yes the Rum Tum Tugger is a Curious Cat--
And there isn't any need for me to spout it:
For he will do
As he do do
And theres no doing anything about it!
