📚My Poem of the Day
Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–1894) was a Scottish novelist, poet and travel writer, most noted for Treasure Island, Kidnapped, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and A Child's Garden of Verses. My personal favourite book by Stevenson is definitely „Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennes“, which is unbelievably entertaining and amusing and I have always wanted to walk that trail – preferably with a donkey – and I will one day!
I hope you enjoy this wonderful Christmas poem „Winter Time“ by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Winter Time
Late lies the wintry sun a-bed,
A frosty, fiery sleepy-head;
Blinks but an hour or two; and then,
A blood-red orange, sets again.
Before the stars have left the skies,
At morning in the dark I rise;
And shivering in my nakedness,
By the cold candle, bathe and dress.
Close by the jolly fire I sit
To warm my frozen bones a bit;
Or with a reindeer-sled, explore
The colder countries round the door.
When to go out, my nurse doth wrap
Me in my comforter and cap;
The cold wind burns my face, and blows
Its frosty pepper up my nose.
Black are my steps on silver sod;
Thick blows my frosty breath abroad;
And tree and house, and hill and lake,
Are frosted like a wedding-cake.
🎶My Song of the Day
My son has been listening to this for days so I literally had no choice - admittedly, it was not a difficult one… “Thank God It’s Christmas” - Queen with the unforgettable Freddy Mercury

💭Thought of the Day
I know every country and family have their own traditions. Things are very warm and loving in our family. My children are grown up (ok, at least both of them are of age) and it hasn't been about the gifts or such for a long time. We enjoy the quality time, the closeness, the conversations. We sing, we dance, we enjoy wonderful food and when and if we feel like it, we open the presents on Christmas Eve - little things and often self made. I love this time because we all celebrate it and love it. It is a time when we are even more aware than usual of our affection and love for each other. And even though my daughter cannot be with is physically, she is always here with us. I suppose we will have to make due with FaceTime to be together for now!
