📚My Poem of the Day
“One Need Not Be A Chamber To Be Haunted” by Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) is about how the real ghosts, the ones we should really fear, are to be found within our own minds. ... Forget about haunted houses or ghostly horses heard in old abbeys; the real terror is to be found within ourselves, whithin those ghosts that haunt us – sometimes day and night.
One Need Nor Be A Chamber To Be Haunted
One need not be a chamber to be haunted,
One need not be a house;
The brain has corridors surpassing
Material place.
Far safer, of a midnight meeting
External ghost,
Than an interior confronting
That whiter host.
Far safer through an Abbey gallop,
The stones achase,
Than, moonless, one's own self encounter
In lonesome place.
Ourself, behind ourself concealed,
Should startle most;
Assassin, hid in our apartment,
Be horror's least.
The prudent carries a revolver,
He bolts the door,
O'erlooking a superior spectre
More near.

👀Impressions of the Day
I found this sign with my last name (hint: my last name is not Grangemouth) on it in Scotland two years ago. I was thinking of claiming the village for myself but was strangely unsuccessful… 😊
💭Thought of the Day
We are all at times haunted by the ghosts of our past and we should try to embrace them as the memories they are or letting them go, realising they have made us part the person we are today.
